I work with a wide range of instruments and voice to provide specialist support to people with additional needs who want to learn to play or sing. My approach uses musical improvisation as a basis for teaching instrumental technique and my research is centered on pedagogy in this area. My practice is entirely student-led and tailored to the individual needs and musical preferences of each client. Musical exploration and confidence building are at the centre of my work.
I work to develop musicians with a wide range of additional requirements including special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), emotional and behavioural difficulties, aural and visual impairments and mental health challenges. I am a freelance practitioner in specialist Autism schools in Leicester and Leicestershire and work in secure educational settings on behalf of the SENAD Group. I have previously worked on behalf of Leicester-Shire Schools Music Service and within the penal system.
All sessions are offered weekly on a 1:1 basis and include termly and interim reporting. I am able to work within a multi-disciplinary team to support wider educational and social needs. I attend a variety of settings each week and an online private practice for referrals.

I design, deliver and evaluate music projects for people with additional needs. Working with traditional and accessible instruments, music technology and controllers, my work provides enriching, creative experiences to groups of all ages.
Projects can be designed with an educational or receational focus, using existing repertoire or student-led composition I am currently working on an accessible ensemble performance project with young people in Ashmount School, Leicestershire and have previously worked for for Inspire Culture and The Able Orchestra.
I am trained in drum circle facilitation and as a workshop leader by Musicians Without Borders (Amsterdam 2018), in community music practice and improvisation which all feed in to my diverse skillset. I aim to create a safe, supported space where participants can explore instruments, have autonomy over the creative process and reflect on their achievments in a personal, meaningful way.
I am trained in accessible music making using iPad apps, digital instruments and controllers. I enjoy providing consultancy and training in inclusive music making for non-specialist teaching staff in educational settings.
