District Musicians CIC

Arts Council England project evaluation

My work with District Musicians CIC will be concluding in July 2020 to enable me to pursue other research commitments.  Since April 2019, I have worked alongside my fellow Musicians in Healthcare, Sophie Fishwick and Nick Davis to deliver accessible music interventions for older people in a secure dementia assessment unit. In our debut project, we set out to select and adapt repertoire and explore ways of playing and interacting with patients.  The recent Covid-19 situation has required me to explore digital delivery; adapting my methods and making innovative changes to our original plan.  I am starting to reflect on and evaluate my involvement within this project ready to hand over to Sophie and Nick who will continue face-to-face delivery in the near future. I hope to make our evaluation available here sometime soon!

PhD research

I will be investigating the role of improvisation in developing specialist pedagogy to support instrument learners with additional needs.

I am currently refining my ideas and have recently come back from some dedicated reflection time to this hopefully progress will soon be evident!
